Deidre first captured audience’s hearts when she appeared on Idols 3 in 2005.  Her bubbly personality and presence made her a stand-out favorite and saw her reach the Top 5 position in the series.  Deidre featured on TV shows like Dis Hoe Dit Is Met Steve, KTV and Channel O before she got swept up by leading recording company SonyBMG to start work on South Africa’s hippest new girl group at the time called NKD. During Idols Deidre, together with her fellow 2 band members, whom were also from Idols, received the following media exposure:

  • Front page articles and photo’s in numerous newspapers like The Citizen, Pretoria News, Die Volksblad, Die Beeld, Die Burger, Rapport to name just a few.

  • Articles and posters in various magazines like You, Huisgenoot, Heat Magazine, Sarie, My Week Magazine, Finesse Meisie, In-Flight Magazine, People Magazine, Seventeen, Cleo Magazine and many others.

  • As individuals NKD appeared on prime-time television on M-Net for the duration of 3 months valued at ± R3 million collectively.

  • The girls performed to crowds of 1 500 to 2 000 in the Hippodrome at Gold Reef City whilst an estimate of 2 million viewers watched their performances broadcast live on M-Net weekly for 12 weeks.

  • After Deidre’s departure from the competition as the Top 5 contestant she featured on TV shows and channels like ‘Dis Hoe Dit Is Met Steve’, KTV, Channel O to name a few.

Their debut album ‘What’s that Noise!’ was released in 2006 through Sony BMG South Africa and delivered hits like ‘What I Believe’, ‘What’s That Noise’ and ‘Snakebite’.  Another hit ‘I Want Your Love’ featured in a Super Sport ad-campaign.

Deidre’s decision to leave her successes with NKD behind her has been responded to positively.  ‘Tonge los’ on KykNet had a section on Deidre’s departure from the well-known group as well as Heat Magazine, writing on Deidre’s new solo career, which looks highly promising.  Deidre has already started working on her new Afrikaans solo album and will release her first single shortly.
