UPCOMING EVENTSPress Release: THE HOLLIES 50 YEARS ON The Adventure Continues… Still pure Hollies. Still the tight, clean vocal harmonies, meticulously honed, precisely melded. Though its composition has changed since emerging in the 1960s, a component of the magnificent British Pop Revolution, The Hollies hallmark sound has not wavered. Frontman Peter Howarth, for instance, seems to have been grafted without a blemish to the long-established rootstock of The Hollies and other members have melted into the musical fabric laid down by originals Tony Hicks and Bobby Elliott and others so many years earlier. The Hollies will bring their talents to South Africa on their 50th Year Celebration of all things Hollies. Along with the Beatles and the Stones, this band helped shape the world of Pop and Rock as we know it today. No support act is needed as they perform their Classics – ‘The Air That I Breathe’, ‘Bus Stop’, Carrie Anne’, ‘Just One Look’, He Ain’t Heavy, He’s My Brother’ and much more. A very special event – not to be missed."The Hollies coming to South Africa on their 50th Anniversary World Tour performing at Grand West Arena Cape Town 23 February 2012 at 20h00 and Carnival City Big Top Arena Brakpan on 25 February at 20h00 and 26 February 2012 at 15h00 . Not many 1960’s musicians are still recording, let alone touring with a new album - but then The Hollies are no average band. The title of their new EMI CD, “Then, Now, Always” is descriptive of a polished and everlasting legacy. Their talents ensure that they retain their well‐earned status and play to packed houses in their own right throughout the world. With more hits than the Beatles during the 1960’s and 70’s, The Hollies enthusiasm for their art remains unflagging. ‘Midas Touch’, a collection of Hollies Solid Gold Hits and Classic tracks, made the top twenty in the album charts earlier this year and the band appeared on BBC breakfast TV playing unplugged and live. Recently The Hollies were inducted into the prestigious American Rock n’ Roll Hall of Fame ‐ ‘For their impact on the evolution, development, and perpetuation of Rock n’ Roll’ To witness originals – guitarist and vocalist Tony Hicks and drummer Bobby Elliott with Peter Howarth, Ray Stiles, Steve Lauri and Ian Parker, playing new material is inspiring. In fact, the band are receiving requests for songs from their previous album, “Staying Power” - proving that, once heard, their newer material is just as popular as their impressive back catalogue of classic hits such as “Bus Stop” and many more. The live performance is pure Hollies: Trademark harmonies coupled with sheer musical prowess – each song skilfully showcased by its own stunning lightshow. Hollies anthems ‘‘The Air that I Breathe”, “He Ain’t Heavy, He’s My Brother” bring the show to a crescendo and a well deserved standing ovation - winning over new generations of fans, proof that The Hollies still hack it in a major way.
